Instructors

David J. Hardin presently directs the Washington DC Temple Choir. He holds a Master of Music degree in Conducting from George Mason University, and BS in Music Education from the University of Maryland. He previously served as Musical Director of the Colorado Mormon Chorale in Denver. For many years, Dave conducted the Messiah “Sing Along” in Annandale VA and Washington DC Stakes.
Helen Horton is a member of the Kensington Ward. She studied choral conducting under Mack Wilberg and Clayne Robison. She has participated in and facilitated many choral conducting sessions. Helen has served as Ward and Stake Music chair, conducted and accompanied several ward and stake choirs, and served as Primary Chorister and Pianist in six wards.
Melinda Baird is a member of the Rockville Ward, and serves as the Washington DC Stake Music Chair. Melinda holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from Indiana University, and is currently on the piano faculty of the Levine School of Music, and Director of Education & Institutional Relations for Steinway. Melinda believes music is for everyone, and her favorite activity is bringing music to those who thought they could never participate.
Rebecca Green serves as Assistant Stake Music Chair in the Washington DC Stake and as organist and choir director in the Kensington Ward. She studied choral conducting with Ralph Woodward and Clayne Robison at Brigham Young University, where she was assistant director of the BYU A Cappella Choir.
Trevor Fanning is the Director of Choirs and Handbells at the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland. He received his Master of Music in Conducting from Butler University, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he directed high school choral music programs, and was Conductor-in-Residence for the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre. Trevor focuses on creating choral music ensembles and environments that are welcoming, challenging, and that never lose sight of the joy of singing and making music as ministry.
